Aspens above Los Alamos, NM, are regrowing after the 2011 Las Conchas fire blazed through and burned millions of trees in the Jemez Mountains. Some are now 25 feet or so tall. I took these photos a few weeks ago.

A mountainside slope is covered with hundreds of small aspen trees mixed with New Mexico locust, all with bright yellow leaves. A few conifers that survived a wildfire 12 years earlier stand out.
