I had a good #BeerNight with the other dads last night. We've been getting together monthly for 15 years since I coached their daughters in soccer. It's a great group of guys (about 8 of us, with 5 of us being regulars), and we always have a good time. We went to the Great American Beer Hall in #Medford, a cool place. It is a little sterile, but there are plenty of beer and hard seltzer choices, and even on a cold Wednesday night, it was hopping. Good times.

Labor Notes · Nurses and Doctors Are on Strike at Eight Oregon HospitalsDeclaring that understaffing had them “running on empty,” 5,000 nurses, doctors, midwives, and nurse practitioners walked off the job January 10 in an open-ended strike at Providence Health and Services, the dominant hospital chain in the Pacific Northwest. The strikers work at eight hospitals plus women’s health clinics across Oregon. They’re demanding proper staffing, affordable health insurance, and competitive pay that can attract and retain seasoned workers.

As Seen From Buck Hill

A revisit of Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave, Somerville MA photographed from Buck Hill. While this image is significantly more clear than the one I posted back in August, the belfry and clock tower are now obscured by scaffolding as part of restoration and repairs.

The real revelations in this photo are the clear images of the Fuller Memorial Bell Tower, 200 Main St, Andover MA and Cochran Chapel, 2 Chapel Ave, Andover MA. Both are associated with Phillips Academy Andover. The shape of the Fuller Tower can clearly be seen in this new image. Also the cross at the top of Cochran Chapel can clearly be seen. Both of these are about 30 miles away.

Another big improvement is the view of Wright's Tower in Medford MA. The observation window near the top can clearly be made out, as can color variations in the brick.

Below are my notes from the former post on the other structures visible in this image.

To the upper left of City Hall is the Summit Apartments, 425 Broadway, Somerville MA. Almost directly above this is rocky outcrop containing Wright's Tower, Medford MA, which looks a lot like the observation towers on the top of Great Blue Hill and at the base of Chickatabut.

To the upper right of City Hall is St Ann Catholic Church, 399 Medford St, Somerville MA.

To the lower right is the research and development building for Pfizer Inc, 1 Portland St, Cambridge MA.

To the lower left is West Village Residence Complex H, Northeastern University, 440 Huntington Ave, Boston MA. In front of this is the back portion of the United House of Prayer, 206 Seaver St, Dorchester MA
