Google announced its new design language in May. Material 3 Expressive redesigns have been rolling out to Google apps since then, but the Pixel 10 launch really kicked things off.

Forschende der BAM haben gemeinsam mit der Universität Oxford die Open-Source-Softwareplattform „autoplex“ entwickelt. Sie nutzt Simulationsdaten, um die computergestützte Entwicklung neuer Materialien zu vereinfachen und zu beschleunigen. Dazu werden mit Methoden des maschinellen Lernens Modelle trainiert, die das Verhalten von Materialien realitätsnah vorhersagen und simulieren können.

I really don't like the new #MaterialDesign in #Android.

And not because it is "new and different" but because it is so big with so much whitespace everywhere.

For example have a look at the latest version of the #gmail app below. This is the view after clicking on a mail.

The body text of the mail has only a fourth of the available screen space, because gaps, buttons and toolbars take up so much space .

Also the buttons at the bottom are too small for the german text what looks disgusting.

If you were excited for Android’s big Material 3 redesign, hold that thought. It’s not landing with Android 16—at least not yet. What users are getting instead may just be a renamed feature drop. The polish will have to wait till fall.
