Sorting through my late mother's clothes today, I was struck by how many items gave me simultaneous #genderEuphoria and #genderDysphoria when I tried them on. My mother was a very gender-nonconforming person. Her style blended butch and femme elements. She worked outside and liked to wear men's jeans and flannel work shirts that hid her figure. Trying them on, I would see myself in the mirror and think, "I look so much like my mother!" But then I would realize that to anyone who didn't know my mother, I would probably just look like a man. I love looking at myself and seeing my mother, but is it worth not being seen as myself by others? I don't know.

@Tooden Not gonna dispute that, but simply augment it. "Reversibility" is only a factor if one chooses to stop. The vast majority of our tiny minority know that something is profoundly wrong, from an early age, i'm not talking teens, but say 5 - 7. Back in my childhood nothing was publicly known about this, there was no language for it, no way to have conversations, no references, no support etc. I knew "something" was very wrong, but unfortunately it took me many decades to discover what, why, & how to ameliorate it [albeit too late wrt all the major external physiological changes caused by that despised wrong hormone]. That's all ancient history & now largely irrelevant, coz today much is known of & about #GenderDysphoria, so kids & their parents are easily able to identify & grasp not only what is going on, but what they can do about it. For the parents, & especially the kids, i can think of little that is more existentially devastating than to know they have safe effective options to stave off the evil wrong puberty until they are able to acquire their vital life-affirming surgeries later, with bodies not ruined by that otherwise flood of hated wrong hormones... but be prevented from doing so, by ignorant hating RWNJs & ChristoFascists. It's beyond revolting, & cruel beyond measure.

In #therapy we've been trying to figure out the root cause of my #genderdysphoria which has essentially just lead me to be #agender and decide it wasn't worth figuring out.

Turns out it was #cptsd which can cause identity conflict.

I hate masculine men. That was my dad and brother, who did nothing but hurt me, leading me to not understand men, and think more like a woman.

Also idolizing my mom subconsciously, and wishing to be like her more than the men who hurt me.

@fixatedpersonsunit Do not disagree, & sorry for my usual negativity, but whilst atm our lot here in Straya is far less ghastly than in magamoron Merka, lots of hateful anti-trans rhetoric is being actively imported to here from Merka, & weaponised by all the usual suspects here. In other words, whilst the chances of refugee Merkan trans peeps in Straya being actually murdered are still thankfully small, they need to be aware that it's not all unicorns & rose petals here... sadly we already have much hardcore transphobia here as well... just [so far] of a different quantum to magamoron Merka.
