#Maine #GovernorJanetMills fires back after #Trump's demand for 'full throated apology'

by Randy Billings, Mon, March 24, 2025

Mar. 24—"Maine Gov. Janet Mills on Monday brushed off President Donald #Trump's weekend demand that she issue a 'full throated apology' for publicly challenging him during a White House event last month.

"The governor responded to Trump's social media post while at a public event in Bangor. But it was not an apology.

"Mills contested Trump's claims that he wants to protect women through his executive order barring #TransgenderAthletes from women's sports, pointing out that women in the United States and around the world will be hurt by his moves to eliminate #ForeignAid, attack #SocialSecurity and #Medicaid, and impose #tariffs that will spark #TradeWars and drive up consumer prices.

"'If the current occupant of the White House wants to protect women and girls, he should start by protecting the women and teenage girls who are suffering #miscarriages and dying because they can't get basic, life-saving health care in states across this country,' Mills said, according to the Bangor Daily News. 'If he truly cares about women and girls and people of this country, let's see the economic plan. Let's see the health care plan. Let's see the education plan.'

"Mills, who was in Bangor celebrating the purchase of a mobile home park by its residents under a new state law, added that 'if he cares about women and girls, he should talk about the little girls and boys and infants in #Sudan and other countries who are dying right now because he has cut off their supply of food and life-saving medicines.'"

@pattykimura and sorry I didn’t complete this thought, we were trying to get a “right to sterilization” bill passed for childfree people and for people who are denied healthcare that could affect their fertility even if they don’t care about being fertile.

She’s had to resubmit it three times now because they keep killing it because they’re worried trans people will be able to use it.

It’s now #HB606 & she needs to add “marital status” to the list of reasons they cannot use to withhold care, but it started out giving people the right to sterilization & she had to remove it or they would keep killing it.

The Plaintiffs have brought this class action lawsuit against Everly Well, Inc. (also known as “Everlywell” )and Baby Someday, Inc. (also known as (“Natalist”). Everlywell and Natalist are called the “Defendants.”

Plaintiffs allege that Defendants installed third-party “Tracking Tools” on their website, including tracking pixels (“Pixels”), made by Meta Platforms, Inc. d/b/a Meta (“Facebook”) and Google LLC (“Google”). As a result, Plaintiffs allege that these Tracking Tools transmitted information about Plaintiffs and Settlement Class Members, including confidential, personally identifiable information, to Facebook and Google. Plaintiffs allege that Defendants’ implementation and usage of such Tracking Tools resulted in the invasion of Plaintiffs’ and Settlement Class Members’ privacy and other common law and statutory violations. Defendants deny any wrongdoing whatsoever.

@cykonot @vampirdaddy my state has a “momnibus” Senate bill being heard in Committee on the 19th (SB246)
and it’s creepy AF.

I mean on one hand it’s great because it’s going to require depression screenings periodically in new parents or people who have had a pregnancy loss, but “medical terminations” is also on the list where people would get regular mental health screenings for a year or two after, and since it has been introduced by Republicans I find it to be a little terrifying.

First of all how are they going to know who had medical terminations to know who is entitled to have their insurance company cover these screenings? I understand that if it’s done in a hospital that bills the insurance company the code that says medical termination, sure. But if I go to Planned Parenthood and pay cash I don’t want them sending my name to the state of New Hampshire so they can send the psychiatrists to my house.

Also we don’t know that they won’t change the definition of depression, they can. They’ve been changing the definition of vaccine and disease and excessive deaths for years.

Who’s to say you won’t get diagnosed with depression because you don’t want to have sex with your husband the moment the clock strikes six weeks after birth or whenever the doctor says it’s safe to have sex again? Will new Moms be diagnosed with mental illness if they aren’t keeping up with the housework and making dinner every night for their husband?

I’m Childfree by choice and I support women’s right to choose the life they want to live and this bill sounds OK but it’s kind of terrifying to me because I know the Republicans aren’t trying to do something nice for women. It’s a trap.

The first bill heard in this committee today was the one that would give doctors the right to conscientiously object to providing birth control, sterilizing procedures, a hysterectomy, or an abortion.

I had to stop watching it partly because I had to go to an appointment but it was really pissing me off we didn’t hear any of these concerns when they were having a hearing to see about getting Medicaid to stop covering circumcisions that aren’t medically necessary or religious based.

This is an attack on women’s healthcare. One of the healthcare providers who testified against the bill called it a right to discriminate, and she’s right. Nobody’s trying to force a doctor to provide services they don’t provide, we’re just saying that if they would give a tubal ligation to me if I already have three kids they should give me one if I have zero children because I don’t want children.

Researchers in Australia have managed to achieve near perfect results for a blood test that can detect endometriosis.

Right now you need an abdominal surgery to diagnose it, so fingers crossed for a much better future.

🤬 Abortion debt is now prohibitively high. And rising, as women are forced to travel to a sane state for her healthcare or to possibly save her own life. Have thorough disgust of this news. There should not BE abortion debt!!

“Loans and pawned belongings: abortion patients are increasingly going into debt.

Abortion debt is swelling. Providers and groups trying to fill the void created by bans are buckling under the weight. “

“In an analysis of blood samples from 45 participants taken during and after SARS-CoV-2 infection, the authors identified sex-specific immune pathways in acute infection that were associated with subsequent development of long COVID. Females with long COVID displayed a decreased expression of transforming growth factor β1, whereas males who developed long COVID expressed more of the protein. Additionally, compared with those who recovered, women with long COVID expressed more of the RNA gene XIST, which plays a role in autoimmunity. Despite the sex-specific markers, there were some consistencies across sexes, such as increased expression of proinflammatory monocytes.”
