The Massacre of Mankind by Stephen Baxter is a true monument to The War of the Worlds, perfectly extending the story into a wider incursion by the Martians. 10/10 from me, it is a book I'm not going to forget.

Amazing characters, great LGBTQ+ representation, edge-of-the-seat reading. And if you get the hardcover version, I can say from personal experience - it is soooo pretty! Amazing illustrations. It's a steeper cost than the ebook or paperback but IMO its was worth it.

Gosh, The Sirens of Titan, Kurt Vonnegut, is not the MasterWork I was expecting! Very outdated (book came out 1959) ideas about travellling around the Solar system and living on planets.

In "A City on Mars" the authors are also describing how you can live on Mercury's "habitable" zone between scorching hot and freezing cold. You just have to move your settlement at up to 86km per hour to keep up with the planet's rotation. I've also just watched "Mortal Engines" which has moving cities on wheels. What a coincidence...
