Over the bank holiday I had a sale out of the blue and had to rummage for hours to find this blackthorn spirit, then clean up and re-oil back to a respectable state. I always liked this one, cracks and all.

Lately, I've been carving quite a bit. I usually start without a specific plan, and the pieces take shape in their own way as the process unfolds. The piece shown in the photos symbolizes the layers of different generations, eventually buried in the earth and decomposed by fungi, becoming part of the cycle of new life.
